Planting Peace
How to Reset When You're Running on Empty This Spring
Have you ever noticed how spring brings everything back to life—except maybe you?
While the flowers bloom and the days grow longer, many parents are barely holding it together. The seasonal shift often comes with more to manage: school events, household clutter, big emotions from little people, and a deep fatigue that’s hard to shake.
If you’ve been feeling like you’re running on empty, I want you to know this:
You’re not behind. You’re growing—quietly, steadily, and in the most important ways.
This blog post is your gentle invitation to reset, breathe deeply, and plant a little peace in your day. Below are four spring-themed ways to refill your cup, even if just for a moment.
🌱 Weed Out the Guilt
Let’s start by clearing space. Guilt is one of the most common burdens parents carry. Whether it’s guilt about screen time, needing a break, or not doing “enough,” it often chokes out the joy we deserve to feel.
Spring is the perfect time to release those “shoulds.” Ask yourself: Is this pressure coming from me, or from outside expectations I’ve absorbed?
Try this mantra:
“I release guilt. I choose grace.”
You’re allowed to be human. You’re allowed to rest.
🌸 Water What Matters
Connection doesn’t require grand gestures. In fact, the most meaningful moments with our children often come in the small, quiet exchanges: a shared giggle, a warm hug, or five seconds of eye contact while you tie their shoes.
What are the micro-moments in your day that matter? Pause and notice them. Maybe even name them out loud. This simple awareness is like watering the roots of your relationship.
In our home, we start the day by pretending to grow like seeds—stretching our arms, yawning, and saying, “Let’s grow today.” Simple. Silly. Sacred.
☀️ Take Sunlight Breaks for the Soul
When you’re overwhelmed, your nervous system doesn’t need productivity—it needs peace. And sunlight helps.
Step outside for one minute. Open a window. Let the air touch your skin. Sit by a patch of sun with your favorite drink and just be. These tiny “sunlight resets” signal safety to your body, even in the middle of chaos.
You don’t have to escape your life to recharge. Just let in a sliver of stillness.
🌼 Plant a Reset Ritual
Reset rituals are mini-practices that bring you back to your center. They don’t take much time—they take intention. And when done consistently, they help you show up with more calm and clarity.
Here are a few to try:
– Place your hand on your heart and breathe deeply. Say: “New growth takes time.”
– Stretch or shake your body while your child plays.
– Say out loud: “I’m going to take one minute to reset. Want to join me?”
These moments aren’t just for you—they teach your children that it’s okay to pause and care for themselves too.
A Final Thought
One of my twins wandered into the room while I recorded the podcast version of this post. It was early morning. He sat next to me, quietly listening, and even shared a few words of his own.
It reminded me that parenting isn’t about perfectly quiet moments or flawless routines. It’s about letting life in—even the messy, unplanned parts.
So this spring, I hope you’ll give yourself permission to slow down, breathe deeply, and plant peace—even if just one small seed at a time.
💛 You are not alone. You’re doing a beautiful job.
